EU gives out Sh13.9 billion for geothermal generation

UK firms eye Sh64bn deals in green energy

Tanzania Agriculture Sector Record 3.2% Growth in Q2 2016

 Tanzania’s agriculture sector grew at a rate of 3.2% in Q2 2016, reaching TZS3.8tn, compared to TZS2.5tn in Q2 2015. The results were included in a report recently issued by the Tanzanian National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), covering the country’s GDP performances Q2 2016 GDP. Tanzania Mining Sector Record 20.5% Growth in Q2 2016

 Tanzania’s mining sector grew at a rate of 20.5% in Q2 2016 reaching TZS434b, compared to TZS361b in Q2 2015 with a growth rate of 11.2%. 'Off-grid more viable as Eskom rates set to soar'

Cape Town’s Investec invests big in solar power for Africa

 Pan-African development website ElicitAfrica.com reports Investec made the acquisition through its African private equity capability. The move will see the asset management service partner with Mobisol, a well-established solar power provider to low income households in Tanzania and Rwanda. Rwanda: Off-Grid Power Firm Roots for Renewable Energy Solutions

Built by Chinese Engineering, Africa’s First Electric Rail Launches from Ethiopia to Djibouti

 Chinese-built Ethiopia-Djibouti railway officially starts operation on Wednesday, setting a milestone as Africa's first electric railway.   Stretching 725.7 kilometers and with a designed speed of 120 km per hour, the rail line will connect the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa with Djibouti’s capital Djibouti.
