Kenya: Small-Scale Farmers From Eastern Kenya Support Coffee Task Force Report

Kenya: Insurance Firms Eye Sh5.6 Billion Medical Cover for Teachers

 The lucrative multi-billion-shilling tender to provide medical cover to 298,000 teachers in Kenya has attracted bids from three insurance companies.   Liaison Insurance, AoN Kenya and Clarkson Insurance are eyeing the annual medical cover worth Sh5.6 billion.   The contract will be for three years, unlike previously when it was annual.   The trio has quoted between Sh14.7 billion and Sh17.7 billion for the three-year.... Tanzanian small-scale miners to get $3m in grants

 Tanzania has set aside $3 million in grants to small-scale miners, in a plan that seeks to develop the sector and boost revenue collection.   The World Bank will be funding the programme, which targets different groups of artisan miners, with women’s groups being allocated 30 per cent of the total fund.   Minister for Minerals and Energy Sospeter Muhongo said that empowering artisanal miners would boost the economy.... Tanzania’s $3.5b oil pipeline from Uganda to finish in 2020

 Tanzania plans to complete construction of a crude oil pipeline from Uganda in 2020 at an estimated cost of $3.5 billion, its energy ministry said on Monday.   Uganda said in April it would build a pipeline, to ship out crude from its fields in the Albertine rift basin, through Tanzania rather than Kenya, which had wanted to secure the export route.   Picking a route is vital for oil firms to make final investment decisions.... Tanzania plans to boost sugar output by 31 per cent in four years, state says
