More Kenyans in rural areas applying for cheap power connection

NAIROBI: Kenyans living within 600m radius of electricity transformers are taking up the Government’s offer for cheap connection, Kenya Power has said. Gas pipeline for trial operation this month

The natural gas pipeline connecting offshore reserves south of the country to Dar es Salaam will be put into trial operation later this month. The government said the commissioning of the pipeline would boost power generation and supply gas to factories and homes. Kenya is building Africa�s biggest wind energy farm to generate a fifth of its power

Kenya set in motion the construction of Africa’s biggest wind power farm this week, near Laisamis, 550km north of Kenya’s capital Nairobi. Wind power plant in Meru, Kenya set to generate 400MW of power
