Medical training in east Africa gets a boost with new GE healthcare

Tanzania: Coast Steel Plant Promised Electricity

 Pime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has directed the electricity contractor at the Kiluwa Steel Group factory in Coast Region to connect the industry to reliable electricity within 18 days, so that it kicks off operations immediately.   Mr Majaliwa issued the directive yesterday when speaking to residents and government leaders of Coast Region who turned up at the factory located at Mlandizi. Fruits and tea exports from Kenya on the rise as trade volumes shrink by 3pc

An Enlightened Energy Solution for Rural Africa

 Solar energy provider Mobisol has joined the Business Call to Action (BCtA) with a commitment to provide 800,000 people and 50,000 small businesses in Kenya with reliable access to solar energy by 2020. 3D printing is now at the heart of lifesaving surgery

 For the first time in Kenya, doctors at Kenyatta National Hospital managed to separate conjoined twins.    This was one of the first such operations successfully done at a hospital in sub-Saharan Africa (see another one here), and it was possible in part because of 3D printing.   Dr Fred Kambuni, the lead surgeon, said that a 3D printed model helped his team of medics conduct the delicate spinal surgical interventions.... Tanzania: Aga Khan Plans 35 Health Service Centres
