Posted on : Thursday, 15th January 2015

Keroche Breweries has invested Sh4 billion to expand its Naivasha plant. Company chief executive Tabitha Karanja said the brewer will also be increasing its range of products.

“Keroche is embracing advanced brewing technology to ensure Kenyans and the region get sufficient supply of high-quality bear,” she said. Mrs Karanja spoke in Nakuru yesterday during a marketing tour. She said Keroche is putting up a modern plant which will double production.

She said the new technology would reduce the cost of importing ready-made drinks. Mrs Karanja said the plant was a sign of economic maturity and readiness to compete in the local and regional market. Keroche sales director James Ngomeli said embracing the latest technology will see the company export its products to Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania thereby boosting the economy. He said the company has been using the traditional form of brewing whereby it takes 21 days to process the beer.

Recently, Mrs Karanja won Business Woman of the Year at the CNBC Africa All Africa Business Leaders Awards beating more than 80 others on the continent.
