In order to produce new knowledge and improve comprehension of water availability and quality, Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango has emphasized the necessity of additional research in water resource management.
At the opening of the fourth International Scientific Water Conference on Wednesday at the Mlimani City Conference Centre in Dar es Salaam, Dr. Mpango made this declaration.
He emphasized the value of research in addressing issues with the management of water resources, especially in locating, fostering, and protecting native tree species recognized for their capacity to conserve water in different districts and areas. He also emphasized the necessity of creating sustainable and reasonably priced water harvesting technologies, such as rainwater collection for livestock and irrigation, pond excavation, and household water storage.
He emphasized the significance of maintaining the availability of clean and safe water, managing wastewater effectively, and balancing the use of water by people, animals, and wildlife.
In order to support sustainable water use, wastewater management, and community resilience to extreme weather events, Dr. Mpango emphasized the importance of incorporating climate change considerations into national policies.
