The Government wants the manufacturing industry to have a greater weight in the national economy, at a time the country needs to diversify its economy still heavily dependent on the oil sector.
This was said Wednesday in Luanda by the minister of Industry, Bernarda Gonçalves.
The minister was speaking at a press conference, saying that the National Development Programme and the Angola Industrialisation Programme make provision for the diversification of the economy, which requires the creation of a strong manufacturing industry.
She recalled that the National Industrial Census (CIANG) that started in 2013 is in its final stage and there are indications of the existence in the country of more than three thousand plants.
With the completion of the CIANG, she added, the sector have clearer ideas as to what is needed for the country to improve, boost and support the plants.
She added that a major stride in the manufacturing industry will provide for more jobs.
