McDonald's Set to Enter Kenyan Market in 2018
Posted on : Wednesday, 18th April 2018
McDonald's will soon be latest food brand to enter the Kenyan market with its first outlet anticipated to be in the capital city of Nairobi. This comes when numerous other global brands like Subway and Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) have effectively established themselves in the country.
McDonald's have decided to enter the Kenya market, at a time when a number of other established global brands are focusing on growth operations in Africa. McDonald's is one of the world's largest restaurant networks and serves around 69 million clients every day around the world.
The very first McDonald's restaurant is anticipated to open within a six month period as a part of the McDonald's franchising model.
McDonald's begun inviting potential investors to submit applications for new establishments; this has been the most biggest indication yet of their interest in setting up their establishment in Kenya. Other major brands like Subway and Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) have already been chipping away at plans to further develop their business in the country.
As per sources, the initial McDonald's restaurant in Kenya will be opened at a Total Fuel station on Dennis Pritt street in Kilimani Estate, Nairobi Area.
This news broke just about 3 year after investors were welcomed to put in applications for franchising McDonald's in Kenya.
The official statement from McDonald’s stated “We are looking for investors who have retail experience and willingness to devote full time to the McDonald’s restaurant business, knowledge of the real estate market (and) significant capital. We will retain all information sent to us in a database and give you consideration if we take steps to develop McDonald’s restaurants in Kenya.”
The restaurant chain’s chief executive earlier in the year announced McDonald’s plans to expand into the untapped market in Africa but did not provide a timeline or any details.
