Kenya Remains Uber's Second Largest Market in Africa

 There are 363,000 active Uber users in Kenya according to the newest statistics released by the company to mark its fourth year on the African continent.

 
South Africa is supposedly, Uber’s main market in Africa with an estimated 969,000 active users, while Kenya remains a distant second.
 
The data also revealed that there are 5,000 drivers in Kenya and 12,000 in South Africa, currently on Uber’s books.
 
Kenya remains a hugely profitable market in the region with Uganda and Tanzania also posing good investments with 48,000 and 53,000 active users. Uber has an approximate 1000 drivers assigned in each country.   
 
Nigeria and Ghana to boast 267,000 and 140,000 active consumers respectively. Around 7,000 drivers are on Uber’s payroll in Nigeria and 3,000 others are hired in Ghana.
 
In totality, there are 1.8 million active users of the Uber app on the continent.
 
 “Currently we have more than 29,000 driver-partners taking advantage of Uber’s earning opportunities. Drivers love the flexibility aspect of it as they can earn what they want when they want to supplement their income,” said Alon Lits, Uber General Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa.
 
“Commitment to our driver-partners is a top priority; ensuring they receive the latest in technological innovations means they can be at the top of their game,” said Mr. Lits.
