"We will receive the Uhuru Torch at Kinesi area on Thursday morning and later go through various villages of Rorya District," the council chief told the 'Daily News' here yesterday. The projects that will be inaugurated include those designed to transform the lives of youths as well as improving social services in education and health.
"The youth projects include welding, carpentry and tailoring. We also have a huge water project at Kisumwa, classrooms and civil servants houses," said Mr Chacha.
The Uhuru torch will also be raced to Irienyi village to inspect an irrigation farming project, he said. At the same time he said Uhuru torch leaders will destroy illegal fishing gears that had been confiscated in one of the Mara districts bordering Lake Victoria.
The banned fishing gear will be burned at Utegi police station, according to Mr Chacha. Illegal fishing has continued to threaten fish stocks in Lake Victoria. President Dr John Magufuli recently directed authorities in the Lake Zone regions to stop the use of deadly fishing gears.
