About Us

The Ethiopian Society of Electrical Engineers ESEE was established as a non-profit, voluntary professional association on August 18, 1999 at the end of a founding conference held at the School of Graduate Studies of Addis Ababa University. During the past seven years ESEE has strived to organize itself as a young professional society fighting to meet the day to day challenges of establishing and running a new institution. As we all appreciate it was not an easy task. Despite the constraints, ESEE has succeeded to survive, and has accomplished the following noteworthy tasks: Increased the number of Individual and Institutional members to the present level of 600 and 30 respectively Organized and run a two- man Secretariat within the premises of the Faculty of Technology to administer societal affairs on permanent basis. Started communication with IEE and other sister Societies. Formed a satellite Society in the USA Designed an ESEE website, which is ready for launching soon. Played an important role in the founding of the Ethiopian Electrical Professional Contractors Association. Played an active role in the formation and running of the Joint Engineering and Architectural Professional Associations Secretariat JEAPAS Conducted Annual Congresses, issued Newsletters and Journals and distributed same free of charge to all registered members including those who did not pay their membership fees . The Society embraces and continues to admit interested new members from the following various streams of electrical and computer engineering professions Electrical Power Engineer: who plans, designs, analyzes, develops, operates and maintains electric power generation, transmission, distribution as well as related protection systems and apparatus. Communication Engineer: who designs, installs, tests, and maintains electronic communication systems. Computer Engineer: Who designs, develops, analyzes, tests, installs, and maintains computer hardware and software. Control Engineer: who designs, develops and analyzes control and instrumentation systems applied for monitoring, data acquisition and data analysis of electrical and non-electrical systems including digital, analogue, robust and higher order controllers. Electronic and Microelectronics Engineer: who designs, develops tests and maintains electronic and microelectronic systems ESEE is officially registered with the Ministry of Justice in accordance with the civil code of the country.
