Tanzania Set to Spread Light Across Borders with Supply to Zambia.

Tanzania will begin exporting energy to spread light across Zambia via a new high-voltage transmission line, according to CCM presidential candidate Samia Suluhu Hassan. This interconnection intends to promote regional power commerce, expand capacity for transmission in Northern Zambia, and improve the availability of energy lighting for both nations.

 

She pointed out that the project supports the clean energy agenda of her administration and establishes Tanzania as a global energy hub. She addressed the applauding audience. This project would not only improve the economy but also connect Tanzania into the global power pool.

 

Samia continued that administration has boosted household access to renewable energy lighting. Tunduma women praised the program, claiming it had changed their life. One person remarked, Life is not the same anymore—we no longer spend hours searching for firewood. We now have more time to engage in social and economic activities.

 

Creating a regional power sector, improving energy security, better managing power shortages, and facilitating the exchange of surplus electricity lighting among the two energy pools are the main objectives. This facilitates the integration of more renewable energy lighting providers into the grid and helps both countries fulfill rising home and industrial demands.

 

Zambia formally began the execution phase for its segment, while Tanzania has finished more than 83% of its line. The Zambia-Tanzania-Kenya (ZTK) interconnected network, which will finish the transmission corridor interconnecting Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Zambia to form one of Africa's largest power markets, is the first phase of this project.
