Tanzania Government Set to Ink 15 Road Construction Contracts Totalling Over 1 Trillion

The Tanzania Roads Agency (TANROADS) intends to sign 15 contracts for the construction of asphalt roads and bridges for 1.034 trillion shillings to boost infrastructure services in the country.
This statement was made by Innocent Bashungwa, Minister of Construction, during supplementary replies in Parliament in Dodoma during the Fourth Session, 13th Meeting.
According to Bashungwa, the projects will be implemented using local funding for development projects, and the government is in the midst of setting up the event.
As the Honorable Deputy Minister stated, the Honorable President has already granted permission, and we have decided to plan a day when we will sign these contracts for one day, and then the Deputy Minister and I will join the Honorable Members of Parliament to hand over the contractors to your states, stated Bashungwa.
Eng. Godfrey Kasekenya, former Deputy Minister of building, further stated that the Contractor's procurement procedures for the building of asphalt level for the Katumba - Lupaso (35.3 km) and Kibanja - Tukuyu (20.7 km) parts of the road had been completed. The final step is to sign over the work area to the contractor.
