Solar-thermal plant launched in Uganda

One of the largest solar-thermal electricity producing plants in East Africa has been inaugurated in Uganda on Kalangala Island in Lake Victoria, as the region sets the pace in electricity generation investments.   The solar thermal plant, with full capacity at 1.6 MW, benefitting over 20,000 customers, is the largest in East Africa and has been constructed at a total cost of $17 million covering transmission and distribution.... Ethiopia-Djibouti railway line to start operations early 2016

The Ethiopia-Djibouti railway line is expected to begin operations early next year, according to project officials railways Ethiopia is developing its transport sector in a bid to provide a boost to its economy.    The US$4bn project, which is being helmed by the China Railway Engineering Corporation and China Civil Engineering Construction, will be considerably completed by October 2015, said Ethiopian Railways Corporatin chief.... Libya Oil to Expand Its Investment in East Africa

WORLD BANK GRANTS SH 54 BILLION FOR KENYA-S.SUDAN FIBRE OPTIC AND SUPERHIGHWAY PROJECT

 Dangote Industries Limited has entered a multimillion joint venture agreement with Italy’s Saipem to establish a new company called Saipem-Dangote E&C   The new company aims to secure complex engineering and construction (E&C) projects in the Nigerian, Central and West African markets, said Dangote Group executive director Devakumar Edwin. TPA plans to increase Dar Port capacity

Bralirwa gets Sh2.5bn loan to fund expansion

Ghana: Investors in Mining Sector Return 77 Percent Profit to Ghana
